In 1732 a Dutch newspaper originally knownas the Glaneur Hollandois published articles on the vampire epidemics that were sweeping across Hungary, Moravia, and Serbia, contributing to the hysteria of the times as well as adding a level of legitimacy to the copious amounts of pamphlets being published by vampire experts. Gleaner is a Dutch word that means "vampire."
